Interactive Video: Arcade Fire “We Used to Wait”

The interactive music video thing has been done before (see: Broken Bells and Robyn). However, none are as cool or personal as this one from Arcade Fire. Sticking with The Suburbs theme of the album, the band and director Chris Milk created this Google maps-powered HTML5 video in which you can personalize it by typing in your own home/childhood address. Listen to “We Used to Wait” as you see images of your hometown in this lovely trip down memory lane. (The video works best with Google Chrome).

VIDEO: Interpol “Barricade”

This new Interpol video is way less creepy than their previous one (“Lights”), starting with the fact that there is no ‘Roman shower’ or whatsoever involved. Instead, we see images of the band members projected onto dimension-warping canvases/mirrors in fields and colorful torsos. Not vomit-inducing at all. Enjoy “Barricade” below.

JUST FOR FUN: What Was No.1 the Day You Were Born?

We’ve been plugging in numbers on THIS SITE all morning to see what songs made #1 on Billboard Charts the day we crawled out of our mothers’ wombs. My birth song was “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers (no, I’m not that old; the song reappeared on the charts in 1990 for the Ghost soundtrack) whereas Alex’s was “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes. Swoon. Try it out and let us know in the comments what your special day song is.

I Blame Coco aka Coco Sumner -- born Eliot Sumner -- only just turned 20 not too long ago but she’s already making great strides in the music business. Coco’s got a hot husky voice (we dig female vocalists with a pinch of husk) and she looks pretty fierce in this video. We smell potential. After all, she is Sting’s daughter…
