I recently saw The Cure on their Reflections Tour and got yelled at for standing up in the balcony seating (sorry but when The Cure is on, my body’s not telling me to glue ass to seat). Sheesh. Anyway, I also realized how freaking loveable Robert Smith is. Is he not? The band just released a live album, The Cure: Bestival Live 2011 , and all proceeds from its sales go to Isle of Wight Youth Trust (case and point). In accordance with the live record, they also released this live video of “A Forest”– one of their best tracks, imo — from Bestival 2011, which gets all moody and goody. Enjoy:

The new Chairlift album, Something, takes a different turn from their cutesy “I got bruises on my knee for you” debut… and it RULES. I’m still obsessed with this… and have you heard “Sidewalk Safari“? This is Chairlift 2.0, and we’re digging it. Something drops on January 24th, but meanwhile, you can listen to another new track, “Met Before” below:

Cape Dory, the debut LP from married couple/nautically nectarous group Tennis dropped earlier this year with track after track of sweeter than fiction, sailing with no care in the world-type tunes. They announced a follow-up album — Young and Old — which was produced by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Oh, and the album is dropping on Valentine’s Day 2012. Go figure. Listen to “Origins” below, the first taste of what seems like will be another album full of irresistibly sweet songs. The little jam bit in the middle is absolutely delicious. Enjoy!

A curious little album found its way into our inbox last week — Sacrifice, by a band named Koko and the Sweetmeats, which kind of sounds like the title of a Hayao Miyazaki film (or was that Kiki’s Delivery Service). Anyway, the band explains: “It’s a concept ‘double EP’ with the six songs on side A reinterpreted on side B, ” which we thought was a really rad idea. Side A is good ol’ garage rock while Side B is its comedown. LISTEN/DOWNLOAD here.

I’ve been trying to avoid the Urban Outfitters website for months cause they keep sending me emails about sales and new fall items and whatnot and I want everything/can’t have it all. (Do you feel me?) But I just went there to listen to the new M83 album Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, which I’ve been curious to hear ever since they released the epic single “Midnight City“.
