America’s Recording Academy officials changed the eligibility criteria for the Grammy’s Best New Artist category so that Le Gaga could be included in the pedigreed pool of nominees. The rules state artists nominated in the Best New Artist category must have been nominated for a single the previous year. Since Gaga was “unsuccessful” in obtaining a nomination last year, she was left out of the Best New Artist pool this year… that is until her little monsters got wind of the situation. The public outcry of tweens around the U.S. of A persuaded the Academy to make some much needed amendments. What with the speed that music is created and trends emerge these days, in addition to the already ephemeral nature of pop music, an artist could appear and disappear over night, forget about over the course of two years.
While you ruminate over the previous sentence enjoy footage of Gaga performing “Alejandro” at MSG last night from 2 different angles, lest you miss something.

i thought they changed it but she wasnt allowed to be nominated anymore for new artist since she has been nominated in other things already?
I think if an artist has been nominated in a Grammy category before then they should not be eligible for the New Artist category. Gaga is definitley not a new artist. She has pretty much released 2 albums, had half a dozen #1 singles, and now sells out MSG. I seriously doubt that she will going anywhere in the years to come.
