A picture is supposed to be worth a thousand words… so some keywords you’d probably glean from the short story concerning the picture of Ebony Bones above are: kaleidoscopic colors, humor, MAC cosmetics, 8 Minute Abs, and Josephine Baker. But pictures have always been fibbers and what with the advent of Photoshop, they’re down right disingenuous. This pic isn’t fibbing so much as it is with-holding information by only telling half the story.
The other half concerns Ebony’s sound, which is just as striking and eclectic as her look. Equally reliant on electric guitar riffs as it is on electric drum tracks with a little social commentary thrown in the mix courtesy of song titles like In G.O.D. We Trust (Gold Oil & Drugs); it’s poppy post punk that’s danceable. Paper Mag describes the Londoner’s live show as “Carnivalesque Mardi Gras parade… It’s less of a concert and more of a theme park…” Come check out what all the hype is about for yourself this Saturday February 13th at Southpaw in Brooklyn when Ebony performs with sterling openers MNDR and MONOGOLD. Below enjoy her video for The Muzik and the flyer for Saturday night’s show.
