All News Music/Haiti – A Week’s Worth Of Recaps

Thus far, The Telethon for Haiti has garnered $3 million in iTunes sales from the performances that night on an album entitled Hope For Haiti featuring the likes of Jay-Z, Rihanna, Madonna, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, Neil Young, and U2.

A few nights ago Thom Yorke played a benefit show at The Music Box in the La Fonda, CA. Check out Thom’s set list below. The singer performed a series of Radiohead songs at the benefit whose ticket cost spread was $475-$2,000, all proceeds of which went to Oxfam International.

Also benefiting Oxfam International is Glastonbury Festival organizer Emily Eavis’ fab eBay auction featuring an original song penned by Blur and Gorillaz’s frontman Damon Albarn in addition to a PJ HARVEY STAGE COSTUME (personally, if it had been the white suit from the “This is Love” vid my credit limit would be in trouble).

Wilco is joining the cause asking that you donate $15 to Doctors Without Borders or Oxfam in exchange for downloads of their Brooklyn and London 2009 shows.

In L.A. tonight our friends The Pity Party, Pocohaunted, Letting Up Despite Great Faults, and others will play a benefit for Operation USA at Cinespace.

For my local readers, come out this Monday February 1st to The Woods in The Burg for the benefit show Rock+Rescue. For a minimum $10 donation at the door see Japanther, Das Racist, Fresh Kills, Cerebral Ballzy, Columboid, and a set from DJ Unicornicopia all benefiting the Bedford Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps Haiti rescue effort. RSVP to RSVP@NickyDigital.com.

As an aside from my dear friend Roosevelt, a Haitian physician, below he implores everyone as individuals to help. Please take heed.

“Well, civilians can still help better than governments with all their diplomatic and bureaucratic b.s.: 1st with tents, then medical supplies and food of course, but avoid money because it won’t ever get to those in need. Some children definitely need to be adopted because they lost their whole family and the Haitian Government as usual won’t do anything about it. Nevertheless, God is great and will always be the greatest and God bless not only America but also Haiti, an innocent and poor country!!!  Muah….”
