Eddie Argos, lead singer of Brit indie rock band Art Brut, has a side project along with The Bloody Arm’s Dyan Valdes called Everybody Was In The French Resistance… Now and he was gracious enough to tell me a little bit about their forthcoming album. Now, this phone interview is painful for me to post for many reasons as I didn’t read the prompts that his PR person sent me about his new album Fixin’ The Charts, Volume One, which would have told me that each and every song is a response to another famous and previously recorded pop song (see list below); that and the fact that I tranqued up in anticipation of hosting a holiday fête at mi casa (my bad). I kinda just meander through the interview throwing out too many positive ‘f’ adjectives and sounding excited and confused. Christiane Armanpour I am not… hell I’m not Ryan Seacrest even… Paula Abdul, maybe a little. Despite all this, Eddie was a complete doll and I love the album so I am willing to look like the village idiot to provide him with some well deserved hype… and I’m droll enough to think my ineffectual interview skills are nothing if not amusing. Fixin’ The Charts, Volume One drops February 16th on Cooking Vinyl and is an infectious pop confection with an tart aftertaste that you’re sure to enjoy.
